More About the Sevylor Pointer K2
The SevylorPointer K2 tandem inflatable kayak has a nice look to it but the quality is known to be slightly lacking.
Even though the quality of construction and performance does not in my opinion compare to the Advanced Elements, Sea Eagle or superior Aire inflatable kayaks it is known to have some decent features and is still quite popular.
The Sevylor Pointer K2 is a very attractive looking inflatable kayak that offers a good amount of storage room with a rear cargo hatch as well as bungee lacing on the front deck. It is great for camping and exploration as it can hold quite a bit of gear – up to 600 pounds.
Best for Recreational Use…
The Pointer K2 will perform best in flatwater. It can handle some waves but will not be easy to control in rougher conditions. Even though there is an optional spray skirt for the Pointer I would not personally be thrilled about paddling this inflatable kayak in heavier water.
The Pointer K2 is not a super rigid inflatable kayak and therefore has a tendency to buckle slightly in the middle when there is extra weight on board or when it is paddled by a heavier person. This is not a huge deal if you are simply paddling recreationally in flatwater but would be highly annoying if you are actually trying to maneuver it through any other type of waves or obsticles.
The seats are comfortable enough for shorter day trips and more deluxe seats could always be purchased later if needed. The Pointer K2 weighs 41 pounds which is easy enough for two people to carry and still light enough to bring traveling.
Final Thoughts On the Sevylor Pointer K2
The Sevylor Pointer K2 inflatable kayak would work well for someone who doesn’t have a lot of kayaking experience and is looking for a simple inflatable kayak that has convenient features to enjoy some flatwater paddling.
If you have already done some kayaking, perhaps in a hard-shell kayak, then I think you may be disappointed with this one. I wouldn’t say that I don’t recommend it as I think it is a neat little kayak that could offer a lot of fun for a very affordable price. I would however not buy it myself as I would much prefer the higher quality and better performance of a different inflatable kayak that comes with a higher warranty for roughly the same price.
