More About the Airis Velocity 12
The Airis Velocity is super sporty, fast, has a narrow beam, a sleek hull and offers excellent paddling efficiency. Paddling is fun, but even more enjoyable when you can cover more distance in less time. The Velocity allows you to do that with a lot less effort than paddling many other inflatable kayaks. The tracking is good and it is very rigid and stable. The Velocity has decent room for cargo and although is best suited for day trips, it could also work for multi-day excursions as well.
The Velocity tucks neatly away in its travel pack and is light enough to carry anywhere. For any paddle trips longer than an hour or two I would highly suggest adding the GTS Elite Seat as it offers extra padding and lumbar ergonomics for far better back support.
The Airis Velocity is a little bit higher priced for a solo inflatable kayak; however the quality is superb and if you’ve got the cash to spend it is worth every cent.
Solid Construction and a Very Rigid Hull
Airis kayaks have extra material added in high wear areas and are built to last. They have more stretch and are more tear and scrape resistant than most other inflatable kayaks.
The nice thing about the Velocity is that it packs up so small yet when it is inflated it is extremely rigid. It uses AirWeb High Pressure Construction which makes it possible to inflate it to more than 6.5 PSI or 0.45 bar. This is up to six times the maximum air pressure of other inflatable kayaks.
This extra air pressure allows for a very rigid hull that is extremely durable and the set up is very quick and simple.
Can It Perform Well?
Each Airis kayak comes with a bow keel and a rear skeg that really helps them to track nicely. The shape of the Airis Velocity not only provides good speed but it is also quite stable. With the deluxe seats you will find the back support to be very good and provide good comfort for longer trips.
The Airis Velocity Fits in a Backpack!
The Velocity comes standard with a custom AirPack backpack. The AirPack is super lightweight and comes with padded shoulder straps for extra comfort plus two sets of gear straps for your paddle and air pump. With the AirPack you can carry your kayak while biking, hiking, taking the bus, traveling or camping.
Final Thoughts On the Airis Velocity 12
The Airis Velocity inflatable kayak allows for comfort, quality as well as speed. I like this kayak a lot but one thing to be aware of is that you sit up quite high in this kayak so even though it paddles well it can feel a little different then a typical kayak experience if you have paddled before in a different kayak. However you get a lot for your money and it is not only extremely rugged but also convenient and fun.
