More Detailed Info

The Innova Seaker is a high-end expedition inflatable sea kayak with true sea kayak styling and rigidity. Innova came up with the Seaker in order to compete with high-end expedition folding sea kayaks.

This is a kayak for someone who wants the performance of the folding sea kayak but without the cost and the major time consuming setup of the folding kayaks. This is truly an amazing inflatable kayak and is extremely well made.

It was awarded a ‘Paddler’s Pick’ for 2005 by Paddler Magazine for product innovation as well as a ‘Real Deal Award’ for practical excellence from Hooked on the Outdoors Magazine.

The Seaker is an extremely stable and innovative inflatable kayak with great attention to detail. The tracking is good while using the included rudder and there is ample space for gear storage with the two compartments for a week long expedition.

It handles beautifully in the wind and will make you feel safe and secure in just about any situation. This kayak will keep you very dry even in the wettest of conditions. Spray skirts do not come with it, but are available if you need them.

A few people have mentioned that the speed of the Seaker is lacking greatly as compared to a hard-shell sea kayak. However as far as inflatables go, this is one of the fastest.

Not Your Typical Inflatable Kayak

All of that being said, the Innova Seaker is not a typically lightweight inflatable kayak. At sixty pounds this kayak is heavy and it is not going to be easy to travel with. It is not for someone looking for a light and simple IK.

It is also a fair amount more expensive than many other inflatable kayaks. This watercraft is for those who are in the market for a high-end performance folding kayak but who don’t want to pay the big folding kayak prices or waste the time on setup.

The Seaker will be inflated and have you out on the water in fifteen minutes (as opposed to say 45 minutes with a folding kayak) and will cost you about half the price of a high-end folding kayak.

The other advantage is that it is easily stored in small spaces and will fit in the trunk of your car.

Final Thoughts

This is a specialized inflatable kayak. If you were thinking of purchasing a folding sea kayak, then it is a good idea to really consider the Innova Seaker inflatable kayak.

It is innovative and impressive, will cost half the price of a folding kayak and will save you a ton of setup time. Beautiful in style and performance…. there is a reason this kayak has had such great press.
